So, as many Sonic Fans may have noticed (Or at least the older ones perhaps) Amy has undergone several changes through her lifetime as a character, though this is also very dependant on which Media your looking at. But for the sake of this picture I am looking over Amy Rose as a whole in character. So we have, 'Modern' Amy Rose, 'Classic' Amy Rose or as you will Rosey the Rascal, The Manga version (I am unsure if her name was Amy in the media or not, but this is the look to the female in it or at least from the best referance I could find, more information from people that know more about the subject please feel free to leave it below in the comments, I'd love to know more.), and Fleetway Amy or Sonic the Comic Amy. Personally, I like all the designs. Each has something to it that I'm like 'That really works.' I also noticed that each design has green in it, different shades different parts. Modern's eyes are green, classic with the green shirt, Manga with the skirt, and Fleetway with a skirt as well (Though Fleetway Amy is prone to clothes changing alot through the comic, most referances have her in the green skirt I drew on her here something green cargo looking pants as well.) I have never drawn, Classic, Manga or Fleetway Amy before so I hope I did rather well on them. I wasn't going for copying the style in which each came from just their designs. No I didn't do any of her multi-verse spin offs from the Archie Series because that would just get annoying after a while, sorry. And no, I'm not a huge Amy fan, yes I like the character as I do all the characters involved in all the Sonic Media types, but I mostly did this for fun. I am planning on doing a Sally Acorn version sort of thing as well. The background roses you see wasn't done by my really, it was a brush type in my art program and I found it fitting enough. I'll be posting the singles of each of these girls on my Tumblr so if you want go look at them there. To much a hassle to do it on here. Anyway I think I covered my bases here.
Made in Adobe photoshop Elements 7.0 & a Tablet Amy Rose and all her designs and such copy right to the respective owners and companies and yadda la la da~
Awesome! I didn't knew about the one in the manga, only the other tree. And also, in the early issues from the Archie Comics, Amy looked different, almost as classic Amy, but her spikes and clothes were a little different.
Ah yes early Archie Amy looks like what is now known as Rosey the Rascal within the Sonic Archie series. Sadly I do not have any idea where to read the manga. Or if there is even a translated version out there.
The Manga she was in were published by Shogakukan between 1992 and 1993, and they are indeed official. Emii (Romanisation of Amy. There's a reason why there's an E on her jumper) started off with that look in the first few strips and is the one most people associate with the Manga. However, later into 1992, the Manga changed its look and Amy ended up resembling her classic self (bear in mind that this was before Sonic CD came out, so this was a prelude to that).
Very interesting idea. I never noticed it, but that's cool how you picked up that just about every version of Amy has green on her to some degree or another. That'll probably be burned into my brain as one of her most important character traits across media.
Nice job with the poses. Each one catches an essence of the characters and gives us an idea of what their personalities are like. Very nice.
Thank you for letting us feature this in our gallery at #S-S-S-S-S-Squad! If you're interested and have time, we're holding our first contest now through January 31st. If your want to see the rules and prizes, look no further than this [link].
Well I am glad you think so. Yes it only really took me a moment of looking into my stored up referances to see it. Another common trait each has, they all have some sort of hair piece, exsample: Modern has a headband as well as the Fleetway, Classic has a tied headband sorta thing and the manga version has a bow. Though I am unsure if the Fleetway version always has the headband or not.
I am very touched by your comment it really does make me glow knowing someone really liked my work and really looked at it to catch the smaller details and such, as far as poses as things go. You are very kind.
And thank you for having an interest in my art enough to want it to be show cased in your group. I'll have a look at the contest and see if I'll enter. Thank you for the heads up.
Another good point you raise. I didn't think "Classic" Amy had anything in her hair. I'll have to look at some Sonic Team artwork of her to see what I missed. Guess it's only fitting that a pink girl have some kind of hair accessory...and the token brown girl too.
It was a pleasure looking over your picture, so the details were all very nice to see. I'm glad to hear my comment meant so much to you. It's a very interesting picture and deserved a good comment.
The pleasure was all ours recruiting your picture. Thank you again for your donation and for looking into our contest. It'd be interesting to see what you can come up with if you have the time and interest.
And while I'm at it, have a happy/Merry whatever you celebrate.
No problem, some times my replies are days late as well. Mostly because I am only online 3 days a week.
It's easy to miss. Instead of being a bright red like her modern version its a darker version of pink, and may have blended into her fur easier than red does. Though at first (Or before generations anyway) I was always under the impression that the 'Classic' version of Amy wore a normal headband, it wasn't until the modern age/generations age that it seems that it was a mistake or they changed it into a tied bandana thing that looks/acts like a headband. But oh well. Girlies back in the 90's always had some sort of hair accessory so there you go I guess? Haha.
Well your kind words were very much encouraging and heart warming. And I will look into hopefully getting something done for the contest once the holidays/me moving gets all handled.
Also, do you know where to read the manga? xD
you even remember Amy rose 1992, Amy's 1st design ever
love it
